CHANGI, Singapore (Dec. 22, 2017) - The amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) pulls in to RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base, Singapore during a regularly scheduled port visit Dec. 22. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.

U.S. Marine Cpl. Daniel McGinness, an air traffic controller, aligns panels, which notify an aircraft where to land, on Iejima Island, Okinawa, Japan, December 15, 2017. Marines with Marine Air Control Squadron 4, Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, traveled to Iejima Island to be formally evaluated on their Marine Corps Air Traffic Control Mobile Team Mission Essential Tasks as part of the Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation for exercise Voodoo Magic from December 4-15, 2017. This is the first time MACS-4 has conducted this evaluation. McGinness, a native of Orlando, is assigned to MACS-4, MACG-18, 1st MAW.

SRIRACHA, Thailand—Aviation Metalsmith 2nd Class Kevin Brown with Patrol Squadron 8, hands a child an items from a U.S. Navy Project Handclasp kit during a community relations event at Map Yang Ra Hong primary school in Chantaburi, Dec. 16. Patrol Squadron 8 is a U.S. Navy land-based patrol squadron stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., and deployed to Okinawa, Japan. Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Pecos (T-AO 197) recently transported two tons of U.S. Navy Project Handclasp humanitarian items from Singapore to Thailand that supported four community relations events at local organizations here.

The 36th Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army Gen. James C. McConville visited Soldiers from the 58th Military Police Company, 728th MP Bn., 8th Military Police Brigade in November 2017. Gen McConville engaged with the Soldiers about their mission before presenting them with a Coin of Excellence for their exceptional performance while conducting critical site security. The 58th Military Police Company serves as the security force in support of the 94th Army Air Missile Defense Command-led Joint Task Force Talon in Guam.
