First C-130J Super Hercules is Heading Yokota's Way

A C-130J Super Hercules taxies down the runway at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Marietta, Ga., Feb. 24, 2017, before taking off for Japan. The aircraft is bound for Yokota Air Base, Japan, and is the first of Yokota’s C-130J projected deliveries.

U.S. Air Force Airmen work with the 730th Air Mobility Squadron Operating Location Bravo air terminal ground handling services civilian contractors to connect loading stairs to a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 733rd AMS out of Kadena Air Base, Japan, at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Jan. 19, 2017. The 730th AMS terminal works with contractors and provides support during medical evacuations. The aircraft landed at Misawa to retrieve a patient.

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) pulls into Naval Base Guam,  Feb. 10. Vinson is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment with the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of the U.S. 3rd Fleet in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. Navy aircraft carrier strike groups have patrolled the Indo-Asia-Pacific regularly and routinely for more than 70 years.

Trilateral Training Expands Life-saving Capabilities

Aeromedical Evacuation Airmen from the U.S., Japanese and Australian air forces transport a simulated patient to a U.S. Air Force C-12 Huron as part of annual exercise Cope North Feb. 21, 2017, at Tinian Air Field. Aeromedical evacuation training was conducted on the Huron to familiarize airmen with patient care on a new airframe. Cope North is a long-standing exercise designed to enhance multilateral air operations between the partnered militaries, bringing together more than 2,700 U.S. Airmen, Sailors and Marines who are training alongside approximately 600 combined JASDF and RAAF participants.

The Ban Non Lueam school expansion project is the result of the joint efforts of Multi-National Forces from the U.S., Thailand, India and China, part of Cobra Gold 2017. Cobra Gold, in its 36th iteration, is the largest Theater Security Cooperation exercise in the Indo-Asia-Pacific. This year's focus is to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to regional crises by bringing together a robust multinational force to address shared goals and security commitments in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
