USNS Mercy Arrives in 7th Fleet for Pacific Partnership

SAN DIEGO (May 11, 2016) The Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) departs Naval Base San Diego in support of Pacific Partnership 2016.  Pacific Partnership is in its 11th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Khaan Quest 2016 is an annual, multinational peacekeeping operations exercise hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces, co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command, and supported by U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Khaan Quest, in its 14th iteration, is the capstone exercise for this year’s Global Peace Operations Initiative program. The exercise focuses on training activities to enhance international interoperability, develop peacekeeping capabilities, build to mil-to-mil relationships, and enhance military readiness.

Hawaii Based Engineers Set to Deploy to South Korea

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (May 18, 2016) - The 130th Engineer Brigade hosted a deployment ceremony for engineers of the 523rd Engineer Company, 84th Engineer Battalion at Hamilton Field for its upcoming deployment to the Republic of Korea as part of U.S. Army-Pacific's Korean Rotational Forces.  They will replace the 95th Engineer Company, a fellow Company of the 84th Engineer Battalion, which has been serving in Korea since September of last year.

Task Force Koa Moana Embarks from Okinawa

The task force is responsible for conducting a series of bilateral, multi-national exercises involving a company-sized element of Marines and Sailors from different units within III Marine Expeditionary Force. They will be traveling to countries in the Asia-Pacific region aboard the USNS Sacagawea, a Marine Prepositioning Force ship. The ship is normally a mobile warehouse for Marines’ supplies; however, during this exercise, it will serve to transport personnel to multiple nations, where they will conduct basic military training and cultural exchange to increase relations and interoperability between participating nations. Forbes, from Hartford, Conn., is a combat engineer with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and is the task force’s senior enlisted in charge for the series of exercises.

Frank Cable, forward deployed to the island of Guam, performs routine maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
