Bomber Swap: Lancers to Replace B-52s during Routine Continuous Bomber Presence Rotation

(July 20, 2016) - An SH-60S helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25, recovers a member of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) explosive ordnance disposal unit from Mutsu Bay off the coast of Japan during the 2JA 2016 Mine Countermeasures Exercise (2JA-16 MCMEX), July 20, 2016. 2JA Mine Countermeasures Exercise is an annual bilateral exercise held between the U.S. Navy and JMSDF to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiencies in mine countermeasure operations.

Pacific Partnership 2016 Completes First Live SAR Field Training Exercise in Vietnam

(July 21, 2016) Cmdr. John Cason (Left), an optomologist, and Capt. Sayjel Patel, an optomologist, both assigned to hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) and local Vietnamese optomologists perform eye surgery on a Vietnamese man aboard Mercy. Pacific Partnership and local Vietnamese doctors worked side-by-side during four different surgeries exchanging best practices, ideas and methods of treatment. Mercy is joined in Da Nang by JS Shimokita (LST-4002) and Vietnam People's Navy ship Khánh Hóa for Pacific Partnership. Partner nations are working side-by-side with organizations to conduct cooperative health engagements, community relation events and subject matter expert exchanges to better prepare for natural disaster or crisis.

Pitch Black 16 affords Marines with VMFA-122 the opportunity to integrate and increase interoperability with regional joint and coalition partners while developing operational concepts for conducting sustained combat operations.
