Frank Cable Holds Tour for Japan House of Councillors Members

SASEBO, Japan (Mar. 2, 2015) - Capt. Mark Benjamin, right, commanding officer of the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40), explains his ship's history, capabilities, and functions to members of the Japanese House of Councilors (JHC). The members of the JHC came aboard to acquire knowledge about the role and function of the ships and facilities of Sasebo to aid in discussing issues related to the Japan-US alliance. Frank Cable, deployed to the island of Guam, conducts maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.

The purpose of the combined Korea-U.S. military exercise was to synchronize medical operations in the event of a mass casualty situation caused by chemical or biological munitions.
