Military Sealift Command Arrives in Republic of Korea, Supports Exercises Freedom Banner, Ssang Yong 2016

GWANGYANG, Republic of Korea — Marine Corps vehicles are discharged from Military Sealift Command’s Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) ship USNS PFC Dewayne T. Williams (T-AK 3009) here March 1. The Williams was carrying Marine Corps equipment that will be used to support Exercise Ssang Yong 2016 (SY16). The Williams was one of three MPF ships that offloaded her cargo in support of SY16 exercise, under the Exercise Freedom Banner 2016 directive. An MPF ship can provide equipment to sustain a Marine Expeditionary Brigade for up to 30 days. She can discharges cargo in port or at sea using organic lighterage.

Stennis (CVN 74) participates in a replenishment at sea with the fast combat support ship USNS Rainier (T-AOE 7) and the guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53). Mobile Bay is receiving an advanced biofuel mixture from Rainier.
