Cargo handling battalion demonstrates new capability with Mark VI patrol boat lift

SANTA RITA, Guam (April 4, 2019) Sailors assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 1, Det. Guam, lift a Mark VI patrol boat assigned to Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) 2, Det. Guam, during a first-time proof of concept lift operation aboard the Military Sealift Command maritime prepositioning force ship USNS 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo (T-AK 3008). NCHB-1, Detachment Guam, assigned to Commander, Task Force 75, is the Navy's only active duty cargo handling battalion. They are a rapidly deployable unit of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, capable of loading and discharging ships and aircraft in all-climatic and threat conditions. Malaysian Students Learn Disaster Preparedness Skills During PP19

KUCHING, Malaysia (April 6, 2019) – Malaysian secondary school students attend Emergency Preparedness Camp with members of Pacific Partnership 2019. The camp teaches humanitarian assistance and disaster relief awareness by using English as a vehicle for understanding each other. Pacific Partnership, now in its 14th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Each year the mission team works collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase security and stability in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific. KUCHING, Malaysia (April 7, 2019) – U.S. Army Capt. Perry Foster, assigned to Pacific Partnership 2019, assists Malaysian first responders as they dock their boats during a field training exercise. The event gives local civil response units an opportunity to practice their reaction to a simulated flood disaster with the assistance of partner nation military personnel.
