BAN CHAN KREM, Thailand (Feb. 8, 2015) - Lance Cpl. James Hutsell, from Fayetteville, N.C., drinks coconut water during exercise Cobra Gold 2015. The Royal Thai Marines shared several of their native fruits found in the jungle with U.S. Marines. Hutsell is a radio operator with 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment under the unit deployment program.

OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea (Feb. 06, 2015) - Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Bernard Champoux and 3rd Battlefield Coordination Detachment Commander Col. Joseph Gleichenhaus pay tribute to the heroics of "Easy" Company, 27th Inf. Reg. during an annual ceremony to commemorate the events during Korean War battle for Hill 180. During the famous battle Easy Company stormed Hill 180 with bayonets attached to their rifles and took the hill from Chinese forces firmly entrenched at the top.

POHANG, South Korea (Feb. 8, 2015) - U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew T. Joeckel, a Houston, Texas, native, prepares to rappel down the tower during Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 15-17 at the Minam-ri Mountain Warfare Training Facility, Pohang.  Training alongside the Republic of Korea (ROK) Marines gave the U.S. Marines the unique opportunity to revisit a familiar skill with a foreign force. The overarching goal of KMEP is to enhance and improve the interoperability of ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces. Joeckel is a rifleman with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force under the unit deployment program.

ROK, U.S. Marines Exchange Combat Maneuver Tactics

PYEONGCHANG, Republic of Korea (Feb. 4, 2015) - Republic of Korea (ROK) Marines demonstrate their combat tactics for U.S. Marines during Korean Marine Exchange Program 15-4 at the Pyeongchang Winter Training Facility.  Sharing cultures is a significant factor in gaining a better understanding of the combat tactics of the two forces despite the language barrier, according to ROK Marine Capt. Moon Jung Hwan. KMEP is a regularly scheduled, bilateral, small-unit training exercise, which enhances the combat readiness and interoperability of ROK and U.S. Marine Corps’ forces. The ROK Marines are with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st ROK Marine Division. The U.S. Marines are with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force under the unit deployment program.

Bradley and M1A2 Abrams tank crews from 3-8 Cav. conducted gunnery skills training to ensure unit readiness before rotating out this summer.
