ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (Feb. 15, 2015) - Aeromedical personnel from the U.S. Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force, transfer a simulated downed pilot from a U.S. Navy MH-60S Knighthawk during a multinational search and rescue exercise at Cope North 15.  Cope North 15 enhances humanitarian assistance and disaster relief crisis response capabilities between six nations and lays the foundation for regional cooperation expansion during real-world contingencies in the Asia-Pacific Region.

SASEBO, Japan (Feb. 19, 2015) The forward-deployed San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) arrives in Sasebo. Green Bay is replacing the decommissioned Austin-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Denver (LPD 9), previously forward-deployed to Sasebo, and will enhance amphibious presence in the U.S. 7th Fleet as part of the U.S. Navy's long-range plan to send the most advanced and capable units to the Asia-Pacific region.

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan  (Feb. 17, 2015 ) – Simulated casualty U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Eric Way, 18th Munitions Squadron munitions journeyman, receives aid from an Okinawa Police Department (OPD) officer during a bilateral training exercise on Torii Station. Personnel from the OPD were the first to respond to a simulated aircraft mishap and were soon joined by Kadena Air Base police officers, firefighters, crash and rescue and emergency management personnel along with other local emergency response agencies.

Hokkaido, Japan (Feb. 12, 2015) - Gen. Kiyofumi Iwata, chief of staff for Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), examines an M4 assault rifle during a joint demonstration of military operations on urban terrain with paratroopers from the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division and Japanese soldiers with the 27th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, Northern Army, JGSDF during Exercise North Wind. Paratroopers with the Spartan Brigade are in Japan to participate in Exercise North Wind 2015, a two-week bilateral field training and command-post exercise, to increase combat readiness and interoperability amongst U.S. Army personnel and the JGSDF to respond to a broad range of crisis contingencies in the Asian-Pacific region.

The purpose of this event is to strengthen cooperation, share ideas and improve capabilities with our international partners in cold-weather and mountainous regions. Military members from 12 nations are participating in this event, including Canada, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Mongolia, Nepal and United Kingdom, as well as various units and service components from across the United States.
