Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 Conducts Mount-Out Exercise

Utilitiesman 2nd Class Xiomara Fairley, from Patterson, N.J., assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, directs a vehicle during a 48-hour Mount-Out Exercise (MOX) in Okinawa, Japan June 20. The MOX simulates one of the core capabilities of a construction battalion to deploy an air detachment, along with construction equipment, within 48-hours to any required location around the globe. NMCB 5 is forward deployed to execute construction, humanitarian and foreign assistance, and theater security cooperation support of United States Pacific Command.

PHILIPPINE SEA (June 26, 2018) The Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), steams along the coast of the Republic of the Philippines before a scheduled port visit in Manila. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.

Sailors Give Light to Peace Memorial Park

Sailors place candles at Okinawa Peace Memorial Park during the Lamplight of Peace event. More than 30 U.S. Navy volunteers carefully placed thousands of ceremonial candles at the park in Itoman City, June 22, to honor the more than 250,000 Japanese and American lives lost during the Battle of Okinawa, the third deadliest battle ever fought by U.S. service members.

Chancellorsville Celebrates 120 Years of Care

Chief Hospital Corpsman Mark Naluz, from Nashville, Tennessee, and Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Jenson Yalunggonzales, from Long Beach, California, cut a cake in the Chief Mess on the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) during a celebration for the Hospital Corpsmen's 120th birthday. The Hospital Corps was officially created on June 17th, 1898, but hospital corpsmen have been serving the U.S. Navy for over 200 years. Chancellorsville is forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

PEARL HARBOR (June 26, 2018) The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) enters Pearl Harbor in preparation for Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Twenty-five nations, more than 45 ships and submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2, 2018, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
