Japanese Forces Train with US Marines to Enhance Amphibious Capabilities

CAMP PENDLETON, California (Jan. 28, 2015) - Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, teach Basic Maneuver Techniques for the Combat Rubber Raiding Craft to members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force during Exercise Iron Fist 2015 to help develop the Self-Defense Force's understanding of amphibious operations. Exercise Iron Fist 15 is an annual bilateral training exercise between U.S. and Japanese military forces that builds their combined ability to conduct amphibious and land-based contingency operations. IF15, currently in its tenth iteration, is scheduled from Jan. 26 to Feb. 27, 2015, in southern California.  150128-M-BL930-511.JPG

BUSAN, Republic of Korea (Jan. 29, 2015) - Cmdr. Chase Sargeant, commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), is greeted by a Republic of Korea naval officer after the ship arrived in Busan for a scheduled port visit. John S. McCain just concluded a series of bilateral training exercise with the Republic of Korea navy in international waters west of the Korean peninsula. The routine exercise focused on reinforcing teamwork and interoperability between the U.S. and Republic of Korea navies while giving Sailors the opportunity to sharpen their tactical skills.

BAF BASE BANGABANDHU, Bangladesh (Jan. 27, 2015) -  U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Chris Nichols (left) speaks with Bangladesh Air Force personnel from the 101st Special Flying Unit about low-cost, low-altitude airdrop bundle rigging inspection procedures during a subject matter expert exchange at Exercise Cope South.  Nichols is an instructor loadmaster assigned to the 374th Operations Support Squadron, Yokota Air Base, Japan. Cope South is a Pacific Air Forces-sponsored, bilateral tactical airlift exercise conducted in Bangladesh, with a focus on cooperative flight operations, day and night low-level navigation, tactical airdrop, and air-land missions as well as subject-matter expert exchanges in the fields of operations, maintenance and rigging disciplines. Cope South helps cultivate common bonds, foster good will, and improve readiness and compatibility between members of the Bangladesh and U.S. Air Forces.
