EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska (May 10, 2016) - A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon with the 18th Aggressor Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base receives fuel during a RED FLAG-Alaska 16-1 exercise. The KC-135 Stratotanker, part of the Tanker Task Force, provides mid-air refueling to sustain fighter aircraft during a RED FLAG-Alaska exercise.

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (May 10, 2016) - Participants of a Pacific Unity multilateral tilt-up construction workshop tour a facility built with the tilt-up construction method at Andersen Air Force Base.  Pacific Unity engagements facilitate the building of military partnerships, building capacity, and increasing interoperability among the U.S. Air Force and participating nations. Tilt-up construction is a building technique that uses concrete panels which are made horizontally on the ground and then tilted up into their vertical position at the building site.

SAN DIEGO (May 11, 2016) The Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) departs Naval Base San Diego in support of Pacific Partnership 2016.  Pacific Partnership is in its 11th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 171 assemble an M240 Bravo Light-Machine Gun on a high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle during exercise Thunder Horse 16.2 at the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Haramura Maneuver Area in Hiroshima, Japan, May 9, 2016. The squadron plans to conduct various drills pertaining to aviation ground support forces, aircraft salvage and recovery, convoys, direct refueling, recovery and general engineering operations, establishing a tactical motor pool, providing air operations and planning expeditionary fire rescue services. The exercise focuses on reinforcing skills that Marines learned during Marine Combat Training and throughout their military occupational specialty schooling in order to maintain situational readiness.

Finley presents a certificate of appreciation to a member of the U.S.-Japan Friendship Association during the Fuji Friendship Festival May 7 aboard Combined Arms Training Center Fuji, Gotemba, Japan. "The Fuji Friendship Festival is the most significant community relations event that we host," said Col Todd R. Finley, the commanding officer of CATC Fuji. "We are humbled by the graciousness of the people who live in Gotemba, Oyama, and Susono. To honor that graciousness and to show our appreciation for the partnership between the Marine Corps and the local Japanese community, we host the Fuji Friendship Festival every year."

Shooters fire pistols during the Far East Division Marksmanship Match Dec. 17 aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The competition consisted of classes, practice, and qualifications for both pistol and rifle marksmanship. Marine Aircraft Team 36 won the pistol marksmanship competition and 4th Marine Regiment won the rifle marksmanship competition.
