US, ROK Navies Strengthen Partnerships through Anti-submarine Warfare Cooperation

Robert Thomas, center, commander of U.S. 7th Fleet, prepares to deliver opening remarks to Republic of Korea Navy leadership during an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) cooperation committee meeting. The bilateral ASW cooperation committee is designed to exchange knowledge and develop training scenarios that enhance proficiency in ASW skills between the U.S. and ROK navies. Multinational Team, Community Conduct Shoulder-to-shoulder Construction during Exercise Balikatan

PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN, Philippines (Apr. 21, 2015) - Service members of the U.S. military, Australian Army and Philippine Air Force work together to construct a two classroom Department of the Philippines Standard Building at ENCAP Site 1, Santa Lourdes National High School during exercise Balikatan.  The joint and multinational team consists of service members with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, Australian Army, and Philippine Air Force. This year marks the 31st iteration of the exercise, which is an annual Philippines-U.S. bilateral military training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement.

Combined Philippine-US Force Continues Humanitarian Efforts in Panay

TAPAZ, Philippines (Apr. 9, 2015) - Armed Forces of the Philippines engineers, from the 552nd Engineer Construction Battalion, U.S. Navy Seabees, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5, and U.S. Marine engineers, from the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, are 'shoulder-to-shoulder' as they pass buckets filled with concrete for placement at Don Joaquin Elementary School during Balikatan 2015. The engineers, part of the Combined-Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force located on the island of Panay, are constructing two classrooms at the school. Balikatan, which means "shoulder to shoulder" in Filipino, is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving the ability of Philippine and U.S. military forces to work together during planning, contingency, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
