P-8A Poseidon Finds Missing Vessel in South Pacific; All Passengers Safe
A US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft from Patrol Squadron (VP) 5, the �Mad Foxes" located a vessel Sep. 14 that had been missing nearly a week. The aircraft remained on station while a patrol craft from the Federated States of Micronesia was notified of the vessel's location and was able to take all seven passengers aboard unassisted. The passengers were transported to a hospital in Pohnpei.

The 205th EIS had seven Airmen working to install ten CM-300/350 radios in the 36th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control tower in Guam as part of the U.S. Air Force Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems Radio Replacement Program.

Navy Cargo Handling Bataillon 1 Conducts Training in Saipan
Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 1st Class David Sweza, a native of Dumas, Arkansas, and Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Owen Smith, a native of Vernal, Utah, both assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 1, attach high-performance cargo slings to a crane during crane operator training evolution aboard Military Sealift Command maritime prepositioning force container, roll-on/roll-off and mobile landing platform USNS Dahl (T-AKR 312). NCHB-1, Detachment Guam, assigned to Commander, Navy Expeditionary Forces Command Pacific, is the Navy’s only active duty cargo handling battalion. They are a rapidly deployable unit of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, capable of loading and discharging ships and aircraft in all-climatic and threat conditions.

Andersen’s B-52 Assists in Search and Rescue
A B-52 Stratofortress from the 69th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron takes off from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam Aug. 13, 2019. The 69th EBS along with the U.S. Coast Guard and good samaritans aboard the Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) vessel Isl Star, rescued eight mariners aboard the 60-foot Indonesian-flagged fishing vessel KM Aleluya (previously reported as Hallelujar) approximately 172 miles northwest of Palau.

Guam Senators, Military Leaders Visit Endangered Species at Northwest Field
Cmdr. Brian Foster, executive officer, Officer in Charge of Construction Marine Corps Marianas, provides a safety brief to senators from the 35th Guam Legislature before a site visit at Northwest Field in Dededo July 12. At the request of Sen. Tina Muna Barnes, speaker of the 35th Guam Legislature, Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, commander, Joint Region Marianas and a team of Navy and Marine Corps environmental professionals led a senatorial visit to the site of the endangered Serianthes nelsonii tree at Northwest Field. The group received a briefing from Marine Corps Activity Guam (MCAG) Environmental Director Al Borja and MCAG Natural Resources Specialist Lauren Gutierrez, and saw firsthand the military's commitment to environmental stewardship in the preservation of the island's ecosystem.
