31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Conducting Japan Observer Exchange Program

Soldiers with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF), Western Army, and U.S. Marines with Fox Company, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, race toward the shore at Kin Blue training area outside Camp Hansen, during the Japan Observer Exchange Program.  The JGSDF partnered with Fox Company to observe and practice amphibious capabilities while strengthening the partnership between the two nations. Fox Company is the Boat Raid element for the BLT 2/4. BLT 2/4 serves as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

NAVAL BASE GUAM, Guam (Jan. 22, 2016) - Capt. James G. Meyer, Commodore, 30th Naval Construction Regiment (NCR), briefs Vice Adm. Joseph P. Aucoin, Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet, on NMCB 1 civil engineer support equipment (CESE) capabilities at Naval Base Guam.  NMCB 1 provides expeditionary construction and engineering (combat service support) to include horizontal and vertical construction; maintenance and operation of expeditionary bases and facilities; tactical sustainment bridging, Humanitarian Assistance (HA) through Construction Civic Action Details (CCAD) and Civic Action Teams and theater disaster response capabilities. NMCB 1 is assigned to Commander, Task Force 75, the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving engineering and construction and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th fleet area of responsibility.

The battery was training to distribute food and water as part of a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation when the crowd, played by other Marines, became unruly. A quick reaction force was called to help restore order and continue to distribute supplies. The HADR training was conducted as part of the 31st MEU’s Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise. Capt. Bellamy is from Wadsworth, Ohio.

Since 1994 Marines with the battalion regularly volunteers regularly to help maintain the home’s grounds of the home and conduct organize routine cleanups and maintenance.
