U.S. and Philippines Deepen Defense Cooperation at EXECOM Summit

25 June 2026
Camp Smith, Hawaii— Senior leaders from U.S. Pacific Command and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) wrapped up a productive Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board Executive Committee meeting, held June 23–24, 2026.

The Philippine delegation was headed by Maj. Gen. Rommel Cordova, deputy chief of staff for plans, J5 (AFP). While Maj. Gen. Patrick Teague, USPACOM acting J5 director for strategic planning and policy, led the U.S. team. The Philippine Consul General Arman Talbo also attended the event and provided valuable insights.

This two-day summit marked a pivotal step in the annual bilateral defense planning process. Discussions centered on enhancing operational coordination, strengthening strategic alignment, and ensuring both militaries remain agile and interoperable in the face of evolving security challenges across the Indo-Pacific. The meeting also underscored the enduring alliance and partnership between the Philippines and the United States.

Key recommendations and initiatives developed during the EXECOM will be elevated to senior leadership at the upcoming 4-Star led MDB-SEB conference in the Philippines this August.
