PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 13, 2025) — The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) transits through the Pacific Ocean. Abraham Lincoln, flagship of Carrier Strike Group Three, is underway conducting routine training operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. As an integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific and provides the realistic and relevant training to ensure the readiness necessary to execute the U.S. Navy’s timeless role across the full spectrum of military operations. Through FFA operations, contributing nations work together to coordinate maritime and aerial surveillance patrols in their EEZs to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and transnational crime. Under Operation SOLANIA, the ADF deployed a Royal Australian Air Force C-27J Spartan aircraft, crew and support personnel from No. 35 Squadron to the Solomon Islands. Operation SOLANIA is the ADF contribution to maritime surveillance within the Pacific region. ADF personnel and assets assigned to Operation SOLANIA provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) support through the FFA to Pacific island countries (PIC), which in turn supports their economic development through the protection of fisheries and other resources.
