Uniting leaders from both armies, the ESG prioritized improving interoperability by enhancing current engagements and identifying new opportunities for growth to build on collective strengths within an increasingly dynamic security environment.

“It’s been a privilege to make this journey,” said Indian Army Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai, Deputy Chief of Army Staff for Strategy. “We can benefit from each other’s strengths, especially since we are living in a world that is so dynamic.”

Ghai also emphasized the value of continued engagement between the two armies.

“It is good that the Indian Army is interacting with the U.S. Army, the most formidable Army in the world,” Ghai said. “I think it is a great privilege for us.”

Lt. Gen. Joel Vowell, U.S. Army Pacific Deputy Commanding General, highlighted the importance of face-to-face dialogue in building practical interoperability.

“This is the human facet of interoperability,” Vowell said, noting that in-person engagements allow leaders to work through details, clarify actions, and strengthen understanding in ways virtual meetings cannot.

Vowell also underscored the priority placed on the relationship, noting that while other service-level executive steering groups had been postponed, the Army ESG endured.

“That’s how important this is,” Vowell said.

The ESG concluded with both delegations signing the minutes, formalizing shared actions, and setting conditions for future activities, training, and exercises.
