SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- Various stakeholders across the intelligence community participated in a week long planning event hosted by the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) headquarters staff at the 500th Military Intelligence Brigade -- Theater (MIB-T) headquarters, Fukuhara Hall, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Aug. 13-16.

The planning event is part of the ongoing INSCOM Set the Theater for Intelligence (STT-I) Table Top Exercise (TTX) for the MIB-Ts, with the purpose of training intelligence professionals to identify intelligence enterprise gaps by phase as the Army transitions to Multi-Domain Operations (MDO).

Intelligence professionals across the intelligence community participated in the event, bringing unique elements together from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), U.S. Army Reserve Center (USARC), Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and additional key staff from regionally aligned commands and elements.

The planners converged to consider risks, mitigation, and potential solutions to support not only the Pacific region, but also global requirements. The goal was to collectively consider what the Army needs in order to conduct intelligence and counter adversary reconnaissance in the competition phase for either procurement, modernization, or DOTMLPF changes (doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities).

According to Col. Eloy Cuevas, INSCOM chief of strategic exercises,"the STT-I TTX program supports the INSCOM commanding general's priority to ensure the Intelligence Enterprise is able to support the Combatant and Army Service Commanders capability to meet and defeat emerging and existing threats in their regions."

This is a new way of looking at how the intelligence enterprise will support the way the future Army will fight, and shape organizations now to prepare for it.

Several other MIB-Ts have also completed a TTX, in which collective issues were identified to enable an enterprise, cost-effective solution.

INSCOM executes mission command of operational intelligence and security forces; conducts and synchronizes worldwide multi-discipline and all-source intelligence and security operations; delivers linguist support and intelligence-related advanced skills training, acquisition support, logistics, communications, and other specialized capabilities in support of Army, Joint, and Coalition Commands and the U.S. Intelligence Community.
