U.S. and The Philippines: Two Nations, One Goal for the Pacific
CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii - Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Philippines, Gen. Hernando Iriberri, and the Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, Adm. Harry Harris Jr., render honors during a ceremony at the USPACOM headquarters Oct. 19. Gen. Iriberri visited USPACOM to co-chair the Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board with Adm. Harris. Held annually since 1958, the boards provide a venue for strategic discussions on shared security topics. Board members consist of the U.S. and Philippine Service commanders, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Joint Interagency Task Force- West and the U. S. Coast Guard - Pacific Area. Following the discussions, the co-chairs endorse the bilateral activities for the upcoming year.

Elementary school hosts Marines at Ribbon cutting Ceremony during PHIBLEX 2015
U.S. and Philippine service members salute at the ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 8, during Amphibious Landing Exercise 2015. PHIBLEX is an annual, bilateral training exercise conducted by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines alongside U.S. Marine and Navy Forces. It focuses on strengthening the partnership and relationships between the two nations across a range of military operations, including disaster relief and complex expeditionary operations. The ribbon cutting ceremony signified the end of the Humanitarian Civic Assistance projects at the Concepcion and Binduyan Elementary schools.

Pacific Angels Complete Partnership, Outreach Efforts in the Philippines

HIARNG instructs first responder skills during Exercise Keris Aman 2015
PORT DICKSON, Malaysia (Aug. 12, 2015) - U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Denise Wisniewski, Hawaii Army National Guard, Medical Detachment combat medic, teaches first responder medical techniques to members of the Malaysian armed forces as part of Exercise Keris Aman 2015 at the Segenting Camp. Keris Aman is the largest multinational training event this year and is co-hosted by the Malaysian armed forces and U.S. Pacific Command with representatives from 29 nations participating. The goals and objectives of the training event are to increase participants' interoperability and peacekeeping skills prior to deployment to UN missions.

Keris Aman is a multinational training event co-hosted by the Malaysian Armed Forces and U.S. Pacific Command with representatives from 29 nations participating. Training events and exercises such as Keris Aman contribute to regional peacekeeping training capacity and strengthen multinational cooperation in global missions.

Pacific Partnership 2015 holds opening ceremony in Philippines
SAN FERNANDO CITY, Philippines (August 6, 2015) - Commodore, Task Force Forager, Capt. James Meyer, shakes hands with the Vice Governor of San Fernando City, Aureo Nisce, during an opening ceremony. Task Force Forager will be in the Philippines until August 15 providing medical and engineering assistance. Task Force Forager, embarked aboard the Military Sealift Command joint high speed vessel USNS Millinocket (JHSV 3) is serving as the secondary platform for Pacific Partnership, led by an expeditionary command element from the Navy’s 30th Naval Construction Regiment (30 NCR) from Port Hueneme, Calif. Now in its 10th iteration, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia Pacific region.

Urban search and rescue training during Pacific Partnership 2015
OLONGAPO, Philippines (Aug. 6, 2015) - Soldiers from the 84th Civil Affairs Battalion and Sailors assigned to the hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) train in urban search and rescue techniques with the Olongapo Urban Search and Rescue team during Pacific Partnership 2015. Mercy is currently in the Philippines for its third mission port of PP15. Pacific Partnership is in its 10th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided real world medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,999 animals. Additionally, the mission has provided critical infrastructure development to host nations through more than 180 engineering projects.

RED HORSE Airmen lend helping hands to Philippines community
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (July 27, 2015) - Members from the 554th Red Horse Squadron and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Engineer Brigade dig a continuous footer for a two-classroom building July 22, 2015, in Cebu Province, Philippines. U.S. military and Armed Forces of the Philippines members came together for a joint exchange project to construct a two-classroom school building and provide repairs at San Remigio Central Elementary School.

Palawan communities celebrate completion of new school facilities
PALAWAN, Philippines (Apr. 28, 2015) - U.S. military service members talk to children during exercise Balikatan 2015's San Rafael High School ribbon cutting ceremony in San Rafael. Construction of the BK15 humanitarian civic assistance projects started this past March with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, U.S. forces and Australian forces working shoulder-to-shoulder to construct a two-classroom building for Santa Lourdes National High School, Sabang Elementary School, San Rafael High School and San Rafael Elementary School. This year marks the 31st iteration of the exercise, which is an annual Philippine-U.S. bilateral military training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement. Balikatan 2015
In this photo file, U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron and Aircraft Maintenance Unit discuss pre-flight information while Philippine Air Force (PAF) air battle managers board a 961st AACS E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) during exercise Balikatan 2015 on Clark Air Base, Philippines, April 23. This exercise marks the first time in history that PAF air battle managers have controlled other aircraft while onboard the AWACS. Since the exercise began, April 20, the 961st AACS has integrated 20 PAF weapons controllers during their missions to provide them with first-hand experience using the aircraft’s systems. The 961st AACS is stationed at Kadena Air Base, Japan.

BK15 multinational team teaches health workers first responder skills
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN, Philippines (Apr. 22, 2015) - U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Gary Held, 374th Medical Operations Squadron medical technician and Cooperative Health Engagement instructor, provides feedback to local health workers on their response to a mass casualty training scenario as part of exercise Balikatan's first responder training. U.S. military and Armed Forces of the Philippines training instructors worked shoulder-to-shoulder to train 179 health workers and members of other local agencies to learn skills and techniques to better respond to a mass casualty. This year marks the 31st iteration of the exercise, which is an annual Philippine-U.S. bilateral military training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement.
