Multilateral partners from across the Indo-Pacific launched the Indo-Pacific Defense Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Steering Committee, in Honolulu, Sept. 13, 2024. Military gender advisors from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and the United States participated as committee members. Their nations have all resourced a full-time WPS capability in their defense forces. The U.S Indo-Pacific Command-hosted Regional Military Gender Advisor Course (RGC), taking place in Honolulu, Sept. 9-20, enabled this steering committee meeting. The Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Santa Fe (SSN 763) makes its homecoming arrival at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after completing a six-month deployment. The submarine's ability to support a multitude of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare, strike warfare, surveillance and reconnaissance, has made Santa Fe's one of the most capable submarines in the world.

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii
Rear Adm. Brian P. Fort addresses his staff as he assumes official command of Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Chapel Aug. 9, 2017. A change of command ceremony with Rear Adm. John Fuller was canceled in June when Fort was notified of an immediate assignment to Yokosuka, Japan to be an investigating officer of the USS Fitzgerald (DDG 60) collision. The Navy has not released results of the investigation.
