Top airmen from around the Indo-Asia-Pacific will gather at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 25 to 28 for the 2017 Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium. The event will open under the theme “Challenges to Regional Security: Promoting Combined Operations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii
he 8th Theater Sustainment Command conducted an active-shooter exercise September 14 at the command’s headquarters on Fort Shafter, HI. The exercise successfully allowed 8th TSC personnel the opportunity to rehearse the proper procedures necessary to handle an active-shooter. Assisting the 8th TSC were members of the 8th Military Police Brigade, who provided the active-shooter role-player, the Special Reaction Team, medical and Department of the Army Civilian Police personnel. The U.S. Army Hawaii Directorate of Emergency Services was also on stand-by in case bystanders called 911 thinking the training was a real active-shooter situation.

Twenty-two nations, 49 ships and six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC exercise from June 26 to Aug. 1, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2014 is the 24th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

Chiefs of Defense (CHOD) from twenty-six nations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific and region and their Senior Enlisted leaders gather together for the 2017 CHODS conference hosted by U.S. Pacific Command and the Canadian Armed Forces. The CHOD Conference brings together military leaders to discuss regional and global challenges and to promote multilateral cooperation in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii
Combat engineers from the 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, and Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, brace themselves during a live explosive door breaching at Schofield Barracks. In this photo file, the guided-missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) steams into position during an Expeditionary Strike Force (ESF) exercise, March 16, 2008. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) recently participated in an ESF with the Essex (LHD 2) Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG). The ESF exercise was designed to test the ability of the Strike Groups to plan and conduct multi-task force operations across a broad spectrum of naval disciplines and to refresh skills in completing complex missions that require capabilities that are broader in scope than the individual Strike Groups can provide alone.

Exercise Bougainville II prepares 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment for service as a forward deployed force in the Pacific by training them to fight as a ground combat element in a Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii
Platoons from 95th Engineer Company execute a convoy live-fire at Schofield Barracks' KR-6 Range. Throughout the month of August, Soldiers from the 84th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command executed a field training exercise modeled after such a real-world scenario. Concurrently, platoons executed convoy and perimeter defense live-fires to validate collective mission essential tasks in preparation for a 2018 Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) rotation and the new Objective T criteria.
