Eighth Army Participates in Republic of Korea Ground Forces Festival

GYRYONG, Republic of Korea (Oct. 3, 2014) - The III Marine Expeditionary Force Band performs during a parade at the 2014 RoK Ground Forces Festival.  Eighth Army sent 30 Soldiers and several pieces of equipment to include a Patriot Missile System, AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and an NBC equipped Stryker armored fighting vehicle. The five day festival held annually near the Republic of Korea Military Headquarters near Daejon attracted over 1 million visitors this year.

APRA HARBOR, Guam (Oct. 2, 2014) - The aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) arrives in Guam for a port visit, which comes after recently taking part in Valiant Shield, a joint U.S. exercise that brought together more than 18,000 service members, 200 aircraft and 19 surface vessels for integrated training in and around Guam. George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.  141002-N-XK455-014
