The four-day event combined three previously separate conferences into a single forum focused on global health security, operational medicine, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and medical research. The consolidation strengthened multinational collaboration and expanded opportunities to build sustainable medical capacity across the Indo-Pacific.
"In these times of unprecedented global complexity, your partnership and dedication to advancing military medicine and fostering collaborative knowledge exchange is more critical than ever," said U.S. Navy Capt. Peter F. Roberts, INDOPACOM command surgeon. "We deeply appreciate your leadership in creating this vital forum as we continue to ensure the security, freedom, and prosperity of our allies and partners."
Throughout the week, participants joined expert-led discussions, capability-building workshops and applied training aimed at improving interoperability and medical readiness. Sessions examined emerging health threats, innovations in combat care and coordination during multinational medical operations.
“The challenges we face today are no longer confined within national borders - they have become global issues that concern all of humanity,” said Maj. Gen. Mizuguchi, Deputy Director General (Surgeon General), J4, Japan Joint Staff, during the opening ceremony. “That is why we need global resilience… the collective strength and flexibility to respond to unexpected crises that may arise anywhere on our planet.”
Programming included a keynote ceremony, breakout sessions on operational medicine and force health protection, plenary discussions, a regional blood symposium on transfusion medicine and humanitarian assistance planning workshops.
A tactical combat casualty care demonstration featured Japan Self-Defense Forces and U.S. military medical personnel working side by side. The exhibition highlighted interoperable, life-saving techniques and emerging battlefield medical technologies.
This year’s exchange underscored Japan’s leadership in advancing regional military health cooperation. The biennial event rotates among partner nations to deepen relationships and build shared medical capacity across the Indo-Pacific.
USINDOPACOM is committed to enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region by promoting security cooperation, encouraging peaceful development, responding to contingencies, deterring aggression and, when necessary, prevailing in conflict.
