Midway, Petrel and the Pacific Graveyard

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - Robert Kraft, director of sub-sea operations for Vulcan, Inc., center, discusses some of the distinguishing characteristics of a recent discovery during a professional exchange and visit to research vessel (R/V) Petrel by U.S. Pacific Fleet staff members ahead of the ship's expedition to Midway in search of WWII shipwrecks. The crew of the 250-foot R/V Petrel has discovered more than 30 sunken warships since 2016.
