HANOI, Vietnam - Pacific Ocean Division (POD) Commanding General, Brig. Gen. Thomas Tickner (first row, 5th from left) and Army delegations from 26 Indo-Pacific countries receive a briefing from senior officials at Vietnam's National Committee for Disaster, Incident Response, and Search and Rescue (VINASARCOM) during the 42nd Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) Aug. 20-23, in Hanoi, Vietnam. VINASARCOM is responsible for guiding and directing Vietnam's ministries and branches to elaborate and implement the disaster management strategy, long-term and annual plans for disaster management and SAR. Tickner served as one of five senior U.S. delegates representing U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) at the multinational military seminar. As the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expert in the Indo-Pacific region, a component of POD's mission is to integrate capabilities in support of disaster preparedness and response.
