CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii (Sept. 28, 2018)—Adm. Harry Harris, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), and Gen. Eduardo Año, Chief of Staff for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, review paperwork for the Mutual Defense Board (MDB) and Security Engagement Board (SEB). During Año’s two-day visit to PACOM, he and Harris discussed changes to the MDB and SEB. The MDB provides direct liaison and consultation on military matters of mutual concern to develop and improve both countries’ common defense. The SEB provides the framework and mechanism for continuing liaison and consultation on non-traditional threats to security such as terrorism, transnational crimes, maritime security, and natural and man-made disasters.
