Japan and Indiana Guard forge alliance through live-fire exercises and disaster response
Soldiers of the Indiana National Guard’s 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team view a demonstration of “care under fire” given by members of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force during Orient Shield 2018. The objectives of OS 18 include training U.S. ground forces for deployment to Japan in the event of contingencies; exercising Japan Ground Self Defense Force and U.S. Army capabilities for the defense of Japan; preparing U.S. forces for combined, multinational and joint full - spectrum tactical operations; and increasing interoperability between U.S. forces and JGSDF.
