RQ-4 Global Hawks arrive at Misawa AB
An RQ-4 Global Hawk, assigned to the 69th Reconnaissance Group, Detachment 1, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, lands at Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 1, 2018, for a temporary intra-theater deployment. The movement increases operations for Global Hawks during months of inclement weather endured at Andersen, such as typhoons and other scenarios which have the potential to hinder readiness.The Andersen-based RQ-4s were deployed to Yokota AB, Japan, in 2017 and to Misawa AB in 2014 and 2015 for similar reasons. The United States continues to deploy its most advanced capabilities to Japan, including the Global Hawk, as part of the commitment to the security and stability of Japan.

III MIG welcomes new commander
Col. Bryan M. Howlett passes the unit guidon to Col. Larry Jenkins during the III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group change of command ceremony, June 1, 2018, at the Camp Hansen theater, Okinawa, Japan. Jenkins assumed duties as the III MIG commanding officer after serving as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing intelligence officer. During Howlett’s tenure at III MIG, he provided guidance to Marines and Sailors through all ranks and commanded troops and logistical movements vital to accomplishing the III MIG mission. Howlett will move on to become the chief of staff of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.

VMFA-121 Marines fly high in Misawa ATR
Marine Aircraft Group 12 forces deployed several F-35B Lightning ll's for a regularly scheduled aviation training relocation at Misawa Air Base, Japan, May 9, 2018. ATR's are designed to increase operational readiness and bilateral interoperability for both U.S. and Japanese forces. 3rd Battalion 12th Regiment Marines participate in digital shooting to enhance tactical skills
U.S. Marines with Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division fire a round out of a M777A2 Howitzer May 1, 2018, during Artillery Relocation Training Program 18-1 on Combined Arms Training Complex, Camp Fuji, Japan. ARTP 18-1 is a Japan-funded program which allows 3/12 Marines the opportunity to conduct live-fire training in Japan. The Okinawa-based battalion will continue their training through mid-May.

31st MEU returns home after historic deployment
Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit move packs and gear pier side at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, April 21, 2018, after returning from the 31st MEU’s Spring Patrol 2018.
