B-1s Conduct South China Sea Mission, Demonstrates Global Presence
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer from the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., approaches a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 909th Air Refueling Squadron, to refuel during a 34-hour round-trip sortie to conduct operations over the Pacific as part of a joint U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Bomber Task Force (BTF) mission April 30, 2020. This operation demonstrates the U.S. Air Force’s dynamic force employment model in line with the National Defense Strategy’s objectives of strategic predictability with persistent bomber presence, assuring allies and partners.

NMCB-5’s Seabees Connect with the Community of Marshall Islands
Construction Electrician 3rd Class Christian Carnate, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, Detail Marshall Islands, wires an inverter, which is a part of the solar panel system for the Ennibur Medical Clinic. U.S. Navy Seabees are installing an 1800-watt 12-volt mono-crystalline solar panel system that will provide electricity to Ennibur’s medical clinic and police station. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.

Chaplain Corps Provides Spiritual Service to 31st MEU, USS America at Sea
Lance Cpl. Kolby Leger, a communication strategy and operations Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is baptized during an Easter service aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). Leger enlisted into the Marine Corps out of RSS Baton Rouge South following his graduation from Saint Amant High School in 2018. While underway, chaplains aboard the America host services of various religions and denominations for the Marines and Sailors on board. The Navy Chaplain Corps consists of over 800 chaplains from over 100 faith groups, meeting the needs of Marines and Sailors of different beliefs. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
