Chaplain Corps Provides Spiritual Service to 31st MEU, USS America at Sea

PHILIPPINE SEA - Lance Cpl. Kolby Leger, a communication strategy and operations Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is baptized during an Easter service aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). Leger enlisted into the Marine Corps out of RSS Baton Rouge South following his graduation from Saint Amant High School in 2018. While underway, chaplains aboard the America host services of various religions and denominations for the Marines and Sailors on board. The Navy Chaplain Corps consists of over 800 chaplains from over 100 faith groups, meeting the needs of Marines and Sailors of different beliefs. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
