A Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) contractor sets up static shields as preparation for welding at, Halawa, Hawaii, March 28, 2023. Joint Task Force-Red Hill is in phase three of its five-phase defueling plan. Personnel are focused on completing repairs, quality control tasks, training, response preparation, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA), regulatory approvals and operational planning for such things as dewatering, repacking, and defueling. Expandable Bellows Plug
An expandable bellows plug is used to prevent any contaminated materials from entering the storm drain at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) in Halawa, Hawaii, Dec. 1, 2022. Remediation of the spill site through excavation and removal of contaminated surfaces and material was immediately initiated after an estimated 1,100 gallons of aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) concentrate spilled from the fire suppression system at RHBFSF Adit 6 on Nov. 29, 2022.
