Andersen AFB provides COVID-19 relief to Vietnam
A packaged freezer purchased by the U.S. Air Force is shown before being shipped to Vietnam Jul. 20, 2021. The 36th Contracting Squadron recently partnered with the government of Vietnam to help bring COVID-19 relief by purchasing and sending 77 ultra-low temperature freezers at a total value of $691,000. This assistance will provide one unit to each of the 63 provinces in Vietnam and 14 larger units at the national level for COVID-19 vaccine storage.

1-174th Takes Part in Exercise Forager 21
Ohio National Guard's Spc. Kiya Marshall and Staff Sgt. Tyler Hamilton, assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, operate a man-portable air-defense system to engage an enemy aircraft during exercise Forager 21 on July 30, 2021, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The Avenger is a self-propelled surface-to-air missile system which provides mobile, short-range air defense protection for ground units. Exercise Forager 21 is a U.S. Army Pacific exercise designed to test and refine the Theater Army’s ability to flow landpower forces into the theater, execute command and control of those forces, and effectively employ them in support of our allies, partners, and national security objectives in the region.

Portable Doppler Radar weather system keeps aircraft soaring
A portable Doppler radar is being used as a temporary replacement while the permanent doppler radar is repaired. The radar has a range of approximately 60 nautical miles and will mainly be used for early weather detection for flight line procedures at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
