Secretary of Defense, United Kingdom and Australian Counterparts to Host Joint Press Briefing

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III is scheduled to hold a joint press briefing with the Honourable Richard Marles MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Australia, and the Right Honourable Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Defence, United Kingdom, at the Defense Innovation Unit in Mountain View, Calif., Dec. 1 at 4:00 p.m. PST (7:00 p.m. EST).

The leaders will provide significant updates on the Australia-United Kingdom-United States Security Partnership (AUKUS) following Secretary Austin's second hosting of the AUKUS Defense Ministerial Meeting.

Additionally, media interested in learning how the Department of Defense is accelerating commercial technology into the Department and seeing examples of technology and capability demonstrations in the areas of autonomy, space, energy, and human systems can attend a preview event at DIU ahead of the press briefing, Dec. 1 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. PST.

Media interested in attending these events should RSVP to media@diu.mil no later than 12:00 p.m. PST (3:00 p.m. EST), Nov. 30.

The press briefing will be livestreamed on Defense.gov and Department of Defense social media platforms.
