Maddyson Woods, petroleum supply specialists assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2d Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division, prepares for refueling operations of a AH-64 Apache during Ulchi Freedom Shield on Deju Island, South Korea, Aug. 21, 2025. This critical task ensures the aircraft remains mission-ready and supports uninterrupted aviation operations during the joint military exercise. Ulchi Freedom Shield is an annual combined exercise conducted in support of the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty signed in 1953. Former Korea Augmentation to the U.S. Army (KATUSA) soldiers learn about weapon systems for a mobilization exercise at Camp Humphreys, South Korea, Aug 19, 2025. The MOBEX is to provide former KATUSAs, who are now in an inactive reserve status, their mandatory annual training.
