Welcome to the Jungle
U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Air Force service members conduct intravenous hydration during a multi-day training event Aug. 22, 2019, at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Camp Gonsalves, Japan. Army Green Berets from 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) hosted the event for other services as part of its continuous readiness program, enhancing not only their own tactics and procedures, but also expanding field operation capabilities of other units on Okinawa.

35th Civil Engineer Squadron Airmen Ensure F-16 Pilots Safety
A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon from the 14 Fighter Squadron, Misawa Air Base, Japan, pulls the mobile aircraft arresting system (MAAS) cable at the Sam Ratulangi International Airport, Manado, Indonesia, June 17, 2019. The MAAS is a contingency airfield asset that allows for the safe retrieval of tail hook aircraft during an in-flight emergency. It is air-portable and can be installed in a variety of methods and on practically any surface type to provide coverage in a variety of scenarios.

Sustainers Resupply Units using Aerial Delivery during Lightning Strike
25th Combat Aviation Brigade Soldiers prepare to push out the aerial delivery using the free drop technique in support of four companies of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team during Operation Lightning Strike field exercise. Each free drop supplied 2-27INF, 3IBCT Soldiers with 390lbs of meals and ammunition; approximately one day worth from four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to two locations simultaneously.

VP-47 Completes Deployment to U.S. 7th Fleet Area of Operations
Lt. Cmdr. Seth Harbin, Patrol Squadron (VP) 47 Maintenance Officer, is accompanied by his children after departing from a P-8A Poseidon into hangar six at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island upon returning from deployment. The "Golden Swordsmen" of VP-47 recently completed a six-month deployment conducting maritime patrol and reconnaissance and theater outreach operations within the U.S. 7th Fleet (C7F) area of operations in support of Commander, Task Force 72, C7F, and U.S. Pacific Command objectives throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
