31st MEU completes two weeks of mission planning and execution at MEUEX
Marines with Combat Logistic Battalion (CLB) 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), carry a simulated combat casualty onto a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st MEU, during a nightingale exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, July 29, 2020. During a nightingale, Marines and Sailors provide tactical combat casualty care and evacuation of combat casualties. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. The 31st MEU has implemented strict health protection measures and will continue to conduct mission essential training in support of regional security and stability.

Members from the 18th Equipment Maintenance Squadron discuss racial disparity, discrimination and inequality during their monthly open forum July 24, 2020, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. The 18th EMS has held nine small group discussions in an open forum facilitated by Airmen who have personally experienced discrimination in their careers. This gives members the opportunity to speak about their personal experiences in a safe environment and affords others the opportunity to listen and learn from these experiences.

Mineman 3rd Class Jacob Scott from San Antonio, Texas, operates the vehicle handling system (VHS) to lower the mine neutralization vehicle (MNV) into the water to acquire a visual identification of a mine-like object aboard mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9) during Mine Warfare Exercise (MIWEX) 2JA 2020. MIWEX 2JA is an annual bilateral exercise held between the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiencies in mine countermeasure operations.

35 CES teams up with JASDF counterparts to replace power lines at Draughon Range
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Alex Jordan, a 35th Civil Engineer Squadron electrical systems apprentice, hands Tomoaki Miura, a 35th CES electrical technician, a high voltage porcelain insulator at Draughon Range near Misawa Air Base, Japan, July 15, 2020. Typically, high voltage line replacement is a contracted project; however, the 35th CES electrical shop seized the opportunity for their Airmen to receive on the job training while working side by side with their JASDF counterparts. Not only did U.S. and JASDF Airmen benefit from completing the project as a team but it also saved the Air Force 90,000 dollars.
