Balikatan, Tagalog for ‘shoulder-to-shoulder,’ is a longstanding bilateral exercise between the Philippines and the United States highlighting the deep-rooted partnership between both countries. USS Sampson Supports Disaster Relief Efforts in Tonga with International Forces
An MH-60R Seahawk Helicopter assigned to the "Scorpions" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 49 prepares for take-off from the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson (DDG 102) as the ship is positioned to conduct lifesaving actions in support of disaster relief efforts in Tonga. The Australian Government response is being coordinated closely with France and New Zealand under the FRANZ partnership; alongside Fiji, Japan, United Kingdom, and the United States, to assist Tonga in its time of need. Sampson is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with alliances and partnerships while serving as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

CLR-3 Marines activate in support of Operation KULEANA
U.S. Marines and Sailors with Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3d Marine Logistics Group, board a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules at Kadena Air Base, Japan, Dec. 6, 2021. Marines with CLR-3 are providing support services such as field expedient showers and laundry facilities to the residents of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam affected by the ongoing water issue. 3d MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III MEF’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.

The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) prepares to moor during a port visit to Singapore while on a deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Evaluation Team Uses Non-destructive Testing on JBER Airfields
The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD23), middle, transits the Bay of Bengal with Indian navy destroyer INS Rajput (D 51) while conducting a cooperative deployment with the Indian navy. Anchorage is deployed as part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The Essex ARG/ 13th MEU is a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the 7th fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.
