The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) steams in formation with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Asagiri-class destroyer JS Umigiri (DD 158), Republic of Korea (ROK) Great-class destroyer ROKS Yulgok Yi I (DDG 992), Chungmugong Yi Sun-Shin-class destroyers ROKS Dae Jo young (DDH 977) and ROKS Choi Young (DDH 981), So Yang-class fast combat support ship ROKS So Yang (AOE 51), and the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Decatur (DDG 73) and USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) during a trilateral photo exercise. U.S. Army Japan renames headquarters to honor to past leader
In this file photo, General Maxwell D. Taylor took the helm of U.S. Army Japan, then U.S. Army Forces, Far East, in November 1954. He relinquished command of the unit on April 1, 1955, to lead all U.S. forces in Japan and Korea as the Commanding General of U.S. Far East Command, a unified combatant command. He also served as the Chief of Staff of the Army and the 5th Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The crew of USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) approaches a Philippine-flagged purse seine fishing vessel in the North Pacific Ocean on March 31, 2023. The team returned to Guam on April 9, 2023, following the 30-day patrol supporting the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency's Operation 365 and Operation Rematau to stop illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in the Pacific.

Missile Defense Agency Test Successfully Intercepts Ballistic Missile Target
A Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) Dual II with Software Upgrade (SWUP) is launched from the USS Daniel Inouye (DDG 118) off the coast of the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii as part of Flight Test Aegis Weapon System 31 Event 1a (FTM-31 E1a), March 30, 2023. The Missile Defense Agency, in cooperation with the U. S. Navy, held the successful missile defense event that demonstrated the capability of a ballistic missile defense (BMD)-configured Aegis ship to detect, track, engage, and intercept a medium range ballistic missile target in the terminal phase of flight utilizing the SM-6 Dual II SWUP in a single salvo of two interceptors.
