Historic Pacific F-35 Symposium takes place in Hawaii
U.S. Navy Adm. Harry Harris, U.S. Pacific Command commander, gives his closing remarks during the Pacific F-35 Symposium at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, March 15, 2017. The symposium is a Pacific Air Forces-hosted event that brings together the four Pacific members of the F-35 program: Japan, Australia, the Republic of Korea and the U.S. While attending the event, senior officers, warfighters and F-35 experts discussed a range of topics related to integrating the F-35 into multilateral air operations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific. The U.S. currently flies the F-35B out of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and is scheduled to field two additional squadrons at Eielson AFB, Alaska, starting in 2020. Australia and Japan are already flying their own F-35s and the ROK is projected to receive its first in 2018.

A C-130J Super Hercules with the 36th Airlift Squadron is drenched in water during a water salute upon arrival at Yokota Air Base, Japan, March 6, 2016. Much like its H-model older brother, the C-130J will be used to support critical peacekeeping and contingency operations in the Indo-Asia Pacific region, including cargo delivery, troop transport, airdrop and aeromedical missions.

Trilateral training expands life-saving capabilities
Aeromedical Evacuation Airmen from the U.S., Japanese and Australian air forces transport a simulated patient to a U.S. Air Force C-12 Huron as part of annual exercise Cope North Feb. 21, 2017, at Tinian Air Field. Aeromedical evacuation training was conducted on the Huron to familiarize airmen with patient care on a new airframe. Cope North is a long-standing exercise designed to enhance multilateral air operations between the partnered militaries, bringing together more than 2,700 U.S. Airmen, Sailors and Marines who are training alongside approximately 600 combined JASDF and RAAF participants.

World War II veterans arrive for Pearl Harbor 75th commemoration events
