(July 19, 2016) – Cpl. Christopher Neumann aims his GAU-21 .50 caliber machine gun during a close air support exercise at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii, July 19, 2016. Neumann is participating in Rim of the Pacific 2016, a multinational military exercise, from June 29 to Aug. 8 in and around the Hawaiian Islands. RIMPAC offers the U.S. military the opportunity to train with partners and allies in the Pacific region. Neumann, a native of Wells, Maine, is a UH-1Y Huey crew chief with Marine Light Attack Helicopter 367, which supports III Marine Expeditionary Force.

Advancing as One
A Republic of Korea, or ROK, Marine sights in alongside U.S. Marines as ROK Assault Amphibious Vehicles shoot off smoke behind them July 6, 2016 at Suseong Range, South Korea during a Korean Marine Exchange Program, or KMEP. The goal of the KMEP is to sustain the combined force and enhance the ROK-U.S. team at the tactical level to build combined warfighting capabilities. During this exercise the Marines carried out a bilateral regimental-sized Marine Air-Ground Task Force operation for the first time. The ROK Marines were a part of 73rd Battalion, 7th Regiment, 1st Marine Division. U.S. service members participating in KMEP 16-11 as part of the ground combat element are with Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force through the unit deployment program.

An hour for a lifetime: Ambassador Kennedy visits Marines during weekly outreach event with Henoko, Okinawa community
Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy and Lance Cpl. Keven Romero interact with students during a service member-taught English class June 22 aboard Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. For the past 14 years, Marines aboard Camp Schwab have been teaching children and young adults basic grammar and commonly used words for communication. According to Romero, they not only learned from and taught their Okinawan neighbors, but they continue to build on a bond 71 years in the making.
