Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff visits PACOM
CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii (Sept. 28, 2018) — Adm. Harry Harris, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), and Gen. Eduardo Año, Chief of Staff for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, are welcomed at PACOM headquarters during an honors ceremony. During Año’s two-day visit to PACOM, he and Harris will meet to discuss changes to the Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board. The Mutual Defense Board provides direct liaison and consultation on military matters of mutual concern to develop and improve both countries’ common defense. The Security Engagement Board provides the framework and mechanism for continuing liaison and consultation on non-traditional threats to security such as terrorism, transnational crimes, maritime security, and natural and man-made disasters. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency conducts a ceremony for POW/MIA Recognition Day at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, Sept. 15, 2017.
