DARWIN, Australia (May 8, 2015) - Sergeant Anissa Hogbin, a bugler with the Army Band Darwin, Australian Defence Force, sounds "Last Post" during the memorial service commemorating the 73rd Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea May 8 at the USS Peary Gun Memorial, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The Battle of the Coral Sea was a series of naval engagements, between the U.S. and Australia against Japan, which occurred May 4 to May 8, 1942 on the northeast coast of Australia. Beyond purely military training, Marine Rotational Force - Darwin greatly appreciates Australia's hospitality and utilizes community engagements to learn and share with the host nation. Share

KATHMANDU, Nepal (May 5, 2015) - Lt. Gen. John E. Wissler meets with Alfonso Lenhardt and members of the United States Agency of International Development at Tribhuvan international airport before they depart to village Bhirkuna Deurali, Nepal. After Nepal was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake Wissler and USAID members distribute supplies including tarps, sleeping systems and water purification solution. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government's help after the earthquake. USAID is a U.S. Government agency that gives civilian foreign aid in time of natural disasters. Wissler is the commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force. Share

KATHMANDU, Nepal (May 3, 2015) - U.S. Marine V-22 Ospreys fly into Tribhuvan International Airport. U.S. Marines also brought an UH-1N Huey, tools and equipment to support the government of Nepal. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government's help after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck their country, April 25. The Marines are with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242, Marine Aircraft Group 12, I Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Share

POHANG, South Korea (Mar. 29, 2015) - Cpl. Brennan Palmiter shakes hands with a Republic of Korea (ROK) Marine during Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 15 in the vicinity. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) participated in KMEP 15. The overall objectives of KMEPs are to enhance amphibious operations between ROK and U.S. forces that contributes to security and stability on the Korean Peninsula as well as the entire Asia-Pacific region. The ROK Marines are with 33rd Battalion, 1st ROK Marine Division, and the U.S. Marines are with Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st MEU. Share

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea (Mar. 19, 20150) - Republic of Korea (ROK) airmen perform a decontamination operation. ROK airmen participated in a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear joint training exercise with Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1 CBRN and 51st Civil Engineer Squadron CBRN. The week-long bilateral training event enabled U.S. Marines and airmen, and ROK airmen to learn different tactics, techniques and procedures. Share

POHANG, South Korea (Mar. 30, 2015) - Republic of Korea (ROK) Marines unload onto a landing zone from a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey belonging to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), during Korea Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 15. KMEPs are annual combined exercises conducted by U.S. Marine and Navy Forces with the ROK in order to strengthen working relationships across the range of military operations - from disaster relief to complex, expeditionary operations. BAN CHAN KREM, Thailand (Feb. 8, 2015) - Lance Cpl. James Hutsell, from Fayetteville, N.C., drinks coconut water during exercise Cobra Gold 2015. The Royal Thai Marines shared several of their native fruits found in the jungle with U.S. Marines. Hutsell is a radio operator with 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment under the unit deployment program. Share

CAMP PENDLETON, California (Jan. 28, 2015) - Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, teach Basic Maneuver Techniques for the Combat Rubber Raiding Craft to members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force during Exercise Iron Fist 2015 to help develop the Self-Defense Force's understanding of amphibious operations. Exercise Iron Fist 15 is an annual bilateral training exercise between U.S. and Japanese military forces that builds their combined ability to conduct amphibious and land-based contingency operations.
