JTF-RH conducts spill response training exercise
Federal Firefighters observe spill response actions from a control center on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, during a April 6, 2023 spill response training exercise conducted by Joint Task Force-Red Hill (JTF-RH). JTF-RH is in phase three of its five-phase defueling plan. Personnel are focused on completing repairs, quality control tasks, training, response preparation, the National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Assessment, regulatory approvals and operational planning for such things as dewatering, repacking, and defueling. Members of U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam conducted a search and rescue exercise in Weno, Chuuk, the Federated States of Micronesia, on Feb. 22, 2023. Responders Conclude Successful Search and Rescue Exercise in Saipan
The U.S. Coast Guard and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands partners conclude a successful two-day search and rescue exercise (SAREX) in Saipan, Aug. 24, 2022. Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam holds SAREXs in Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Compact of Free Association States to evaluate notification and response procedures and identify shortfalls in communication and coordination of response during SAR incidents. Each agency holds individual capabilities that complement each other’s efforts and bolsters the overall success of the SAR system.
