U.S. Air Force Airmen from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, assigned to the 673rd Expeditionary Civil Engineer squadron, build an addition to Ban Khao Talat School during an engineering civil action project in Rayong Province, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 27, 2023. The nearly 30 day construction project involved Airmen working alongside their Thai and Indonesian counterparts. The ENCAP is part of Cobra Gold 23’s emphasis on civic action and humanitarian assistance to further regional collaboration in vital areas. Cobra Gold, now in its 42nd year, is a Thai-U.S. co-sponsored training event that builds on the longstanding friendship between the two allied nations and brings together a robust multinational force to promote regional peace and security in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.

24 SOW D-Cell, pioneers of the ACE concept, hone arctic skills in Alaska
Special Tactics Airmen assigned to the 24th Special Operations Wing, Detachment 1, also known as Deployment Cell or “D-Cell”, treat a simulated combat casualty as an Alaska National Guard HH-60M, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment, approaches for medevac during a training exercise at Camp Mad Bull on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Jan. 10, 2023. Based out of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, D-Cell consists of 54 members across 15 job codes forming four agile teams, whose primary role is to “bare base” – to rapidly turn undeveloped locations into fully functional bases. The unit visited Alaska to train and test their capabilities in an arctic environment.

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jessica Driver, a 673d Logistics Readiness Squadron Heavy Equipment Shop vehicle maintenance journeyman, repairs a light on an Okosh H-series truck to ensure it is ready for winter at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 24, 2021.
