HONOLULU, Hawaii - Joint Task Force-Red Hill (JTF-RH) Commander, U.S. Navy Vice Adm. John Wade shakes hands with Manager and Chief engineer of the Board of Water Supply, Ernest Y. W. Lau at the Defueling Information Sharing Forum, Feb. 22, 2024 at the Hawaii State Capitol, Honolulu, Hawaii. The forum brings local community members, elected representatives and other stakeholders together with JTF-RH leadership to discuss the defueling of the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) and to provide critical community feedback. JTF-RH is now in Defueling Phase 5.B where personnel are focused on removing residual fuel and transitioning with the NCTF-RH. The transition will focus on NCTF-RH learning JTF-RH’s processes and procedures for safety, security, and engagement to ensure continuity of operations. During this phase, JTF-RH retains command and control over the RHBFSF Joint Operational Area and will synchronize actions to rebuild trust with Federal, State and local stakeholders.
