SYDNEY, Australia - The Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense (CHODs) conference is an annual event that provides a venue for Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence and U.S. military leaders to address emerging challenges and security matters. This year, the conference is co-hosted with Australia and to be held from 25-27 July in Sydney. The theme of the conference this year is ‘Promoting the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific’, with a focus on the security implications of climate change, advanced technologies, and the conflict in Ukraine. The Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, will meet with his counterparts to discuss these issues, as well as with Commander Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral John ‘Chris’ Aquilino, and United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, to discuss the U.S.-Australia alliance. The conference is attended by CHODs from twenty-seven countries this year and is the first time the Chiefs have met face-to-face since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic
