U.S. Navy Seabees Deployed with NMCB-5’s Detail Sasebo Conduct Critical Repair to Seawall

SASEBO, Japan - Builder 1st Class Remie Acosta, from Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Utilitiesman 3rd Class Jaime Orobio, from Houston, both deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detail Sasebo, place riprap as part of the repairs underway for a section of the seawall on Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo to further improve the base’s military readiness and capability. Seabees at Detail Sasebo are currently repairing a typhoon damaged the seawall to mitigate further erosion and destabilization of the adjacent Pre-Engineered Building Foundation. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
