SMWDC Hosts Self-Defense Fleet, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force

SAN DIEGO, California - Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) and U.S. Navy officers participate in an annual bilateral staff talk at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) headquarters, Oct. 19, 2018. SMWDC and their counterparts from the JMSDF discussed the importance and return on investment of Warfare Tactics Instructors (WTI) in the U.S. Navy’s Surface Warfare community and implementation of a similar program in the JMSDF. SMWDC is one of the Navy's five Warfighting development centers and its mission is to increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the surface force across all domains.
