USS Shoup departs Fiji following port visit

SUVA, Fiji - Cmdr. Andy Strickland, commanding officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86), exchanges gifts with Capt. Humphrey Tawake, commander of the Fiji Navy, during an office call. Shoup is participating in the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) program, a Secretary of Defense program leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard’s maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operations in Oceania.
